STEEL
FRAMED PATIO COVERS
|
Steel covers are made from commercial grade galvanized
steel that is roll formed with 3/4" high ribs 6" on center.
the steel roofing is attached to 14 or 16 gauge galvanized steel
framing that is 4' on center.
The cover is supported on steel post set in concrete or mounted to the
top of a patio slab on brackets. The post are spaced evenly at 8', 10'
12, or 14' on center.
Patio roof styles are semi-flat with a slope of 1" in 12" of
projection (distance out from the house) Gutters are not included on steel
covers, a gutter company can add gutters to match the gutters that are
on the home.
See the How
to measure for a cover section for information on post and set back
placement. Because steel covers have a frame the post can be set back along
the sides or at center beams, and you can attach things to the frame such
as fans, lights, bug-zappers, and ceilings. |

A note to
customers installing a patio cover in a corner situation:
If the cover is mounted on the eave, the cover will leak
during heavy rains and this type of installation does not meet
code. To avoid this, mount the cover on the wall below the
eave and install seperate gutters on the home's eaves. This
will meet code and prevent leaks. [click
